46 Registrars, Magistrates Transferred

KAMPALA: On Monday October 8, 2018; at least 46 judicial officers (Registrars and Magistrates) were transferred or deployed to different courts across the country by the Chief Registrar, HW Esta Nambayo.
The officers newly deployed to different courts around the country are the 16 Magistrates Grade One recently appointed by the Judicial Service Commission.The team was sworn-in by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Bart M. Katureebe, on Friday September 28, 2018.
According to a transfer circular issued on October 5, 2018 by the Chief Registrar,majority of the other 30 judicial officers were either due for transfer or they were moved from less busy to stations with more workload, which is in line with Judiciary's transfer policy.
"The judicial officers who have been in the system shall move to new stations on November 1, 2018 whereas the newly deployed officers have to move with immediate effect," HW Nambayo said.
According to the Chief Registrar, a judicial officer should be able to work in any part of the country. "Most of the judicial officers are transferred from one place to another based on the workload assessments of one station compared to the other," she said.
